Biography Walter Stengel

Walter emmigrated together with his wife Margot from Germany to Chile in a ship journey that lasted 81 days. In October 1955 he took over the leadership of the fish-catching enterprise "Pesquera Quiriquina" in the port city of Talcahuano. Formerly he had been sailor and participated with Aristotle Onassis in whale-fishing on the Chilean coast.

After two years the enterprise was liquidated and Walter acquired a ship during the distribution of activa with which he could start his entrepeneurial activities. 1960 he founded the fish-catching company "Pesquera El Golfo".

His three sons founded further prominent fish-catching companies in Chile.
